Makeover Monday Update

As I posted earlier in the week, I achieved my goal of learning a new piano piece by reading the music instead of taking my easy way out and sounding out the tune myself. I am pleased that I was able to do it, but I can tell you that I was a little too focused on this – and very little else got done.

Never fear, trusty husband came to the rescue this weekend and with a combined effort, we are now in a clean, tidy house and laundry is up to date once more! I have even started working on a more ambitious piece, Vivaldi’s ‘Autumn', from the Four Seasons, and loving every minute of it. It’s been great to sit down and do something for me (aside from reading blogs!), the baby gurgles away to himself in the crib, and at times Miss E sits alongside me playing her own tune on the upper keys – everybody’s happy, and no television involved!

Since I am way, way behind (read haven't done a thing) in preparing for our upcoming vacation to Ireland, this week will be spent running around like a madwoman (no change there then), shopping for gifts for family and friends at home, and getting suitcases packed. So, I will be sitting out the next few Makeover Mondays. Although, I am looking forward to seeing how all the other participants have done, and what lofty goals you set for yourselves for the weeks ahead.

Well done, Annie! I wish I could hear you play (and could come with you to Ireland). Love the Vivaldi. We'll miss you while you're gone!

Your DH sounds like a keeper!

I grew up in a home where my mother played the piano all the time. We loved it. She inspired all of us with her music. So you say that it's something you're doing for YOU, but you're really doing it for everyone else around you too!

Have a great trip! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Good job! Just curious -- how do you get the dear spouse to help out like that? It's a big struggle with us right now...

A trip to Ireland? Hopefully you'll be able to squeeze in the odd post during your travels. I took my Mom over the last time she came to visit and I still can't get Newgrange out of my head. A beautiful place.

Doodaddy, you might want to visit my blog for a 101 on Husband housework.

Yes my husband is definitely a keeper, and not just for his housekeeping skills :)

Doodaddy - he's just a neat freak, and I'm not. I do do the majority of 'inside the house' chores but when I get lax, he can't stand it and so he pitches in. He does also realise that there are days that with 2 small kids, it's all I can do to keep everyone clean, dry, fed and happy, (not necessarily in that order, and rarely concurrently!), so he helps out when he gets home. I used to feel guilty about this, but now I've learned to just smile and say 'thanks' :)

The Good Woman - to use an American phrase, Newgrange is Awesome!

When I first visited it I couldn't get past the whole walking around someone's tomb thing, and at aged 9 or so it did freak me out! It is a wonderful place though.
