Like fly paper for weirdos

That’s me! That, or I have a flashing light above me that draws them in. How else can I explain why people come up to me in places like Walmart and tell me random things like "it’s 3 weeks ‘til hurricane season hits, and you better be prepared, we’re gettin’ one way worse than Katrina this time, and you better be ready"? All this yesterday as I am (unsuccessfully) trying to secure my toddler back into the cart, with my infant strapped to my front in his snugli! All, in the kids towels aisle. I’m thinking though I should have asked him how he could be so certain that we’re in for a ‘worse than Katrina’ storm, I might just have asked him for this week’s lotto numbers, too.

This is not the first time something like this has happened to me. I have been accosted by panhandlers and other weirdos in Walmart’s carpark – so maybe it’s not ME, maybe it’s Walmart that is like fly paper for weirdos then?

Oh, this is me! My mom told me I brought the strangest people home-and I DID. Homeless, sick and dying, drunk-you name it. I still attract the strange and infirm-I think I have a sign on my forehead that says "Please, if you're weird, talk to me!"

It's definitely Wal Mart. Because those people will just pass gas as they walk by you in the aisle as if they are at home. I kid you not.

Things like that never happen at Target.

I am preparing myself for all of the "be prepared!" stuff that will be popping up all over the place in my neck of the woods. As if I don't know when june is?

Yeah, it's Walmart. Actually, before I read the second paragraph I was mentally composing my comment, which was going to be "It's because you go to Walmart!" I steer clear of that place... it attracts the freakiest people in town. Serious.

YES YES YES!! I've always said that I think a CPS (Child Protection Services) should just be stationed inside Walmart. But that doesn't stop me from going in for a quick, inexpensive item!

Gavin has must have an invisible tattoo on his forehead (only to be seen by crazies) that says, "TALK TO ME!" So I can totally relate!

Definitely Walmart! Weirdos by the score! I eas there once just after I had my wisdom teeth pulled and a big black lady grabbed me and said "Chile you betta leave that man, he ain't nuttin but trouble!" because of the bruises on my cheeks. I tried to explain but she wasn't having any of it. "My sisters a social worker so I know all the excuses and I don't buy it!" LOL!

That is too funny Deborah!

I'm glad you all think it's Walmart too, and not me! I tend to not go there after 6pm either, more of them seem to flock there in the evenings.

I LOVE Target, but it's further away from my house, and I ALWAYS end up coming home with a lot more stuff that I suddenly 'needed' - hence the trips to Walmart.

LOL! MitchMcDad - I was looking at that saying to myself 'oh no I'm attracting them on my blog, too!' - then I figured it out. Must go make more coffee ;-)

I may or may not have hidden in the middle of a clothing rack to get away from a Wal-mart weirdo. Of course I looked like the weirdo when others saw me climbing out. I'm strictly a Target girl now.

Hiya - I made my way over from Brillig's site.

As everyone else has said its definitely Walmart. I think thats the price you pay for such incredibly cheap stuff ( I gotta admit I love it - crazy people and all - I mean where else can you get 10 bars of soap for like $0.50).

They just built a new one in a "ritzier" part of town and as of yet it hasn't attracted the crazies. So I'm hopeful!
