Last night my two year old inflated my mommy ego, filling my heart with pride and joy, then she popped it less than thirty seconds later, leaving it in a pile of soggy pieces!
I had been reading her several bedtime stories, wrapping up with a cute children's prayer book - I asked her a question after finishing the prayers not really thinking she'd grasp the concept but tried anyway.
Conversation went like this:
Me: 'E, what are you glad that God made?'
E: 'I like my family!' (she said it straight away, and I looked at my husband and said 'we must be doing something right').
E: 'Mommy, read these books again' (about 6 in total).
Me: 'I'll tell you what, why don't you tell me a story?'
E: 'I can't, I'm too busy' (I didn't meet my husband's gaze for fear that he'd make me acknowledge where exactly she'd heard that phrase before!)

Hahaha. That's great! I both of the looks at your husband and the different motives for each one. hahaha.
Ah, yes. They're like parrots, aren't they?
lol Ok that rings too close to home. I heard my son say, "I'll do it in a minute, Mommy." That is something I say way too often!
Annie, I am laughing out loud. Really, it's too good to write "lol" this time. I love it. I love it! -Megan
Too funny - my husband was on duty this weekend and on Monday I was picking up after my three year old and she says "You don't clean the house - you're lazy!" Hmmm... what has Daddy been saying! ;-)
Uh oh Deborah - busted! My husband I'm sure feels like saying something like that, too!
It's amazing what our kids pick up from us, isn't it? Little parrots, indeed!
Oh dear! Mine hasn't said that yet, but I'm sure it's coming, along with "Mommy, I just need a bit of quiet, please!"
My son was once sifting through a pile of books to choose a bedtime story, and said "can we have this one, or is it far too long?"
