I have deliberately stayed away from blogging about The Feminine Mistake, because to think about it makes my blood boil, to be quite frank (and I'm stressed enough as it is at times). I am quite happy to have you speak for me, since you did such a wonderful job of articulating yourself.

Amen again and again!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6361777463921594082.post-73607857806243000582007-05-15T14:43:00.000-05:002007-05-15T14:43:00.000-05:00I missed Saturday's Today Show segment, but saw he...I missed Saturday's Today Show segment, but saw her interview on there a few months ago and blogged about it as well.
Great post, and I agree with everything you said.
In the end, I think it's all about book sales...Life As I Know Ithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09492465378321819342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6361777463921594082.post-54766124299325446172007-05-15T13:47:00.000-05:002007-05-15T13:47:00.000-05:00Good post. We all need to support each other as MOTHERS and forget about who's SAH or working or whatever, because let's face it...we're all mothers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I haven't read the book, and don't plan to. I think the author's whole tone seems very condescending.Sarahvizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07257891014401157085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6361777463921594082.post-38487918373626989232007-05-14T17:19:00.000-05:002007-05-14T17:19:00.000-05:00Amen!I'm a WOHM, but I find it offensive that peop...Amen!
I'm a WOHM, but I find it offensive that people would even try to make blanket statements about what is good for all kids, mothers, families. It's just not right.
Thanks for this post. I myself have been wrestling with whether I should post about this and just couldn't find the right words.Shauna Loves Chocolatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02230467569621226082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6361777463921594082.post-37004424268543692862007-05-14T12:05:00.000-05:002007-05-14T12:05:00.000-05:00Hear, hear, sisters! I used to be a lawyer and, as slackermommy wrote, I take care of the family finances and, yes, hubby has several insurance policies on him! In fact, if anything happened to me, he might be the one that is screwed.

p.s. wandered over here from OTJMarine Wifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10464082946014198195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6361777463921594082.post-16307916855874613532007-05-14T08:44:00.000-05:002007-05-14T08:44:00.000-05:00Amen sister! I'm so tired of women not supporting ...Amen sister! I'm so tired of women not supporting each other and authors writing how there is only one "right" way. I do think there are a small percentage of SAHM's who live in ignorant bliss, not saving for the future, don't know what their finances are, and no plan in place in case of divorce or death. A percentage of these SAHM's don't have a college education or training in a trade so any job they could get would probably not be worth the cost of childcare. Where's the book for these women giving them guidance? The other percentage of SAHM's stay home by choice and are fortunate enough to be able to afford a one income home. Shockingly these women are quite intelligent and have held important jobs outside the home but CHOOSE to stay home because they feel it is in the best interest of their family. Usually these SAHM's handle the family's finances and have a big fat insurance policy on hubby. These SAHM's are quite resourceful. Often doing side businesses that can be done from the home. Many of these SAHM's do have a plan for the future; to return to college or a refresher course when their children are older so they may return to the work force just as valuable as before. So Leslie Bennett put that in your pipe and smoke it. You are just another self righteous women not supporting other women unless they live their life how you think they should.Slackermommyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03865649499682881722noreply@blogger.com
